Dosage

Breton dosage

Bronchodilator:

  • Adult: Initially, 1-2 mg bid, increase to 2 mg tid if necessary.
  • Child: 1-6 yr: 0.25-0.5 mg bid, 6-10 yr: 0.5-1 mg bid, 10-14 yr: 1-1.5 mg bid.

Side Effects

Fine tremor of skeletal muscle, palpitations, muscle cramps, tachycardia, nervous tension, headache, peripheral vasodilatation, hypersensitivity reactions.

Precaution

Hyperthyroidism, myocardial insufficiency, arrhythmias, susceptibility to QT-interval prolongation, hypertension and DM.

Interaction

Increased risk of arrhythmia with digoxin. Hypokalaemia with concomitant admin of xanthines, corticosteroids and diuretics.
