Dakin's

Dakin's commonly known as bleach, is most frequently used as a disinfecting agent. It is a broad-spectrum disinfectant that is effective for the disinfection of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mycobacterium.

100 dilution of 5% Dakin's is the usual recommendation. Use 1 part bleach to 99 parts cold tap water (1:100 dilution) for disinfection of surfaces.

Dakin's is applied in swimming pools for water disinfection and oxidation.

Draw up 1ml of freshly-prepared Dakin's and put it in first graduated cylinder, mix well. Draw up 1ml of solution from first graduated cylinder and put it in second graduated cylinder, and mix well.

Within minutes you will begin to see the results. We recommend leaving no longer than 3 hours.

The effectiveness of Dakin's in the cleaning and disinfection processes depends on the concentration of available chlorine and the pH of the solution.

Dakin's solution will not harm most surfaces as like paint.vinyl-coated wallpaper, vinyl canvas type papers, tile grout, stain, concrete, brick or other masonry surfaces.

Swallowing Dakin's can lead to poisoning. Breathing Dakin's fumes may also cause poisoning, especially if the product is mixed with ammonia.

Symptoms of Dakin's poisoning may include: Burning, tearing red eyes. Burns of the esophagus. Chest pain or tightness.
