Uses
DBL Mitoxantrone Hydrochloride is a chemotherapeutic agent used for the treatment of secondary progressive, progressive relapsing, or worsening relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
For the treatment of secondary (chronic) progressive, progressive relapsing, or worsening relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis
DBL Mitoxantrone Hydrochloride is also used to associated treatment for these conditions: Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL), Lymphoma, Hodgkins, Metastatic Breast Cancer, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL), Progressive Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis, Relapsed Leukemia, Relapsed Lymphomas, Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS), Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (SPMS), Hormone refractory, advanced Prostate cancer, Relapsed Hepatocellular carcinoma, Allogeneic peripheral haematopoietic stem cell transplant
How DBL Mitoxantrone Hydrochloride works
DBL Mitoxantrone Hydrochloride, a DNA-reactive agent that intercalates into deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) through hydrogen bonding, causes crosslinks and strand breaks. DBL Mitoxantrone Hydrochloride also interferes with ribonucleic acid (RNA) and is a potent inhibitor of topoisomerase II, an enzyme responsible for uncoiling and repairing damaged DNA. It has a cytocidal effect on both proliferating and nonproliferating cultured human cells, suggesting lack of cell cycle phase specificity.
Toxicity
Severe leukopenia with infection.
