Flunixinum is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for use in pigs, cattle and horses. It exerts analgesic and antipyretic effects. This drug is often prepared for use in meglumine salt form. Flunixinum is regulated in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and must be prescribed by a licensed veterinarian. Flunixinum may be also referred to as Banamine, and other trade names.
