Hémoced

Hémoced is used in the treatment of bleeding. It is used to prevent or reduce bleeding in conditions like abnormal blood loss during periods and dysfunctional uterine bleeding. It also prevents or reduces bleeding during, before or after delicate surgeries.

Hémoced is safe for you when used after informing your doctor about any disorders such as kidney disease, heart disease, etc.

Hémoced works by increasing the ability of platelets to stick together and form blood clots. It also helps control bleeding from tiny blood vessels.

Common side effects of Hémoced are include:

• nausea
• diarrhea
• stomach pain or discomfort
• vomiting
• chills
• fever
• severe headache (throbbing)
• back or joint pain
• muscle pain
• muscle stiffness
• difficulty moving
• runny or stuffy nose

Hémoced is not recommended for use in pregnant women as no information is available about the safety of this medicine.

Hémoced is not recommended for use in breastfeeding as no information is available about the safety of this medicine.

Do not drink alcohol while taking Hémoced.

Take this Hémoced by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor.

For adults the usual dose is 2 or 3 tablets, taken 3 times a day.

Hémoced shows its effect is 8 hours after taking it orally. This medicine may stay up to 3 days in your body.

Hémoced is about 90% at 24 hours after intravenous administration of 10 mg/kg.

Do not take Hémoced for more than 5 days in a row. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not take more than 3 doses (6 tablets) in 24 hours.

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. It also comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein.

Hémoced should be avoided if you have medical conditions like porphyria (a rare genetic disorder of the blood characterized by a defect in the synthesis of haemoglobin), fibroids (abnormal growth in the uterus), etc.

Seek emergency medical attention. Overdose symptoms may include headache, confusion, vision problems, vomiting, diarrhea, numbness or weakness, problems with speech or balance, feeling light-headed, or fainting.

Call your doctor for instructions if you miss a dose.

Hémoced (sometimes spelled ethamsylate) is an antihemorrhagic agent which is believed to work by increasing resistance in the endothelium of capillaries and promoting platelet adhesion.

Hémoced did not reduce mean menstrual blood loss whereas mefenamic acid reduced blood loss by 20% (mean blood loss 186 ml before treatment, 148 ml during treatment) and tranexamic acid reduced blood loss by 54% (mean blood loss 164 ml before treatment, 75 ml during treatment).
