Levogastrol

Levogastrol is an antipsychotic medication used to treat depression, indigestion, psychiatric disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety disorder, vertigo, hallucinations, schizophrenia, and frequent heartburns. The drug is used for the prevention of premature ejaculation.

Levogastrol is an effective and safe drug in the treatment of dysmotility-like functional dyspepsia and non-erosive reflux disease.

Levogastrol works by increasing the release of acetylcholine. It increases the movement of the stomach and intestines and prevents reflux.

Some of the common side effects of Levogastrol are:

• Increased prolactin level in blood
• Drowsiness
• Irregular Menstrual Periods
• Gynecomastia
• Constipation
• Abdominal pain and cramps
• Weight gain
• Unusual tiredness
• Increased salivation
• Fever
• Excessive Sweating
• Change in Heart Rate
• Abnormal Heart Rate

Levogastrol is not recommended if you are pregnant as it can harm your foetus. This medicine is prescribed by your doctor only when the potential benefits outweigh the risks.

All antihistamines are considered safe to use during breastfeeding, as minimal amounts are excreted in the breast milk and would not cause any adverse effects on a breastfeeding infant.

The interaction of alcohol with Levogastrol causes an increase in impaired coordination and reactivity. This may result in an increased risk of accidents at the workplace, especially in people using dangerous machinery.

It is advised to avoid driving after taking Levogastrol as it may alter the ability to drive.

Some of the common side effects of Levogastrol are: Headache. Fatigue. Drowsiness.

Take the tablet before a meal or as advised by your doctor. It is important to take this medicine at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of medicine in your body.

Take Levogastrol tablets three times a day.

Levogastrol may remain in your body for 1-2 days.

In the single 25 mg study, the mean peak plasma concentration was 441 ng/mL, the mean area under the concentration–time curve from 0 to 36 h (AUC0–36) was 1724 ng h/mL, and the mean elimination half-life (t1/2) was 7.0 h.

Levogastrol is usually prescribed for 4 weeks as per the condition of use given in the product's label, as it is available as either tablets or oral solutions. The duration can also be 8 weeks (4 weeks for treatment and 4 weeks for the follow-up period).

Levogastrol may cause side effects like headache, fatigue, constipation, tiredness, weight changes, and irregular periods.

Take the missed dose of Levogastrol as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next scheduled dose, then skip the missed dose. Do not take double dose to compensate for the missed dose.

Oral form: Never take more than the prescribed dose. Contact a doctor for further guidance if an overdose with Levogastrol is suspected. 

Injection form: An overdose of Levogastrol injection is unlikely to happen as this medicine is administered by a healthcare professional. If overdose is suspected then your doctor will start overdose protocol immediately.

Stop it...as it does not have much withdraw symptoms which will bother you... And usually people stop it... abruptly.

There are no case reports in chronic kidney disease patients.

Levogastrol is not recommended for use in children as the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Levogastrol should be used with caution if you have a problems of the heart and this medicine can alter heart rate. Your doctor may adjust the dose according to your condition and/or closely monitor the functioning of your heart.
