Mebendazol anti-wormtabletten Apotex

Mebendazol anti-wormtabletten Apotex Uses, Dosage, Side Effects, Food Interaction and all others data.

Mebendazol anti-wormtabletten Apotex is a synthetic derivative of benzimidazole with a potent anthelmintic activity against the most common nematodes and some cestodes. It is highly effective against ascariasis, enterobiasis, trichuriasis and hookworm infections. It is equally effective in single or in mixed infections. The effect of the drug is due to its ability to inhibit glucose uptake irreversibly but it does not affect blood glucose concentration in the host, even in high doses. Mebendazol anti-wormtabletten Apotex does not necessitate any dosage calculation since the same dosage is used for children and adults. It can be taken at any time and no special procedures such as purging, use of laxatives and/or dietary changes are required. Parasite immobilization and death occur slowly and clearance from the gastro-intestinal tract may not be completed up to 3 days after administration.

Mebendazol anti-wormtabletten Apotex is a (synthetic) broad-spectrum anthelmintic. The principal mode of action for Mebendazol anti-wormtabletten Apotex is by its inhibitory effect on tubulin polymerization which results in the loss of cytoplasmic microtubules.

How Mebendazol anti-wormtabletten Apotex works

Mebendazol anti-wormtabletten Apotex causes degenerative alterations in the tegument and intestinal cells of the worm by binding to the colchicine-sensitive site of tubulin, thus inhibiting its polymerization or assembly into microtubules. The loss of the cytoplasmic microtubules leads to impaired uptake of glucose by the larval and adult stages of the susceptible parasites, and depletes their glycogen stores. Degenerative changes in the endoplasmic reticulum, the mitochondria of the germinal layer, and the subsequent release of lysosomes result in decreased production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is the energy required for the survival of the helminth. Due to diminished energy production, the parasite is immobilized and eventually dies.
