Saccharin is used in the production of various foods including baked goods, jams, chewing gum, drinks and tinned fruit. This is an artificial sweetener with effectively no food energy that is about 300–400 times as sweet as sucrose or table sugar, but has a bitter or metallic aftertaste, especially at high concentrations. It is used to sweeten products such as drinks, candies, cookies, medicines, and toothpaste.

Side Effects
Saccharin belongs to a class of compounds known as sulfonamides, which can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Reactions can include: Headaches Breathing difficulties Diarrhoea and Skin problems
