Oxizoic

Oxizoic Uses, Dosage, Side Effects, Food Interaction and all others data.

Cream contains the antifungal active compound Oxizoic Nitrate. For topical dermatological use only. Oxizoic Nitrate is an imidazole derivative whose antifungal activity is derived primarily from the inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis, which is critical for cellular membrane integrity. It has in vitro activity against a wide range of pathogenic fungi. Oxizoic has been shown to be active against most strains of the following organisms both in vitro and in clinical infections at indicated body sites: Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, Malassezia furfur. Oxizoic exhibits satisfactory in vitro minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) against most strains of the following organisms: Microsporum audouini, Microsporum canis, Microsporum gypseum, Trichophyton tonsurans,Trichophyton violaceum.

Oxizoic is a broad-spectrum imidazole derivative whose antifungal activity is derived primarily from the inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis, which is critical for cellular membrane integrity. It has fungicidal or fungistatic activity in vitro against a number of pathogenic fungi including the following dermatophytes, and yeasts: T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. tonsurans, T. violaceum, E. floccosum, M. canis, M. audouini, M. gypseum, C. albicans, and M. furfur.

Uses

Oxizoic cream is used for the topical treatment of the following dermal infections: tinea pedis, tinea cruris, and tinea corporis due to Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, or Epidermophyton floccosum. Oxizoic Cream is used for the topical treatment of tinea (pityriasis) versicolor due to Malassezia furfur.

Oxizoic is also used to associated treatment for these conditions: Fungal skin infection, Pityriasis versicolor, Tinea Corporis, Tinea Cruris, Tinea Pedis

How Oxizoic works

Oxizoic inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis, which is required for cytoplasmic membrane integrity of fungi. It acts to destabilize the fungal cyctochrome P450 51 enzyme (also known as Lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase). This is vital in the cell membrance structure of the fungus. Its inhibition leads to cell lysis. Oxizoic has also been shown in inhibit DNA synthesis and suppress intracellular concentrations of ATP. Like other imidazole antifungals, Oxizoic can increase membrane permeability to zinc, augmenting its cytotoxicity.

Dosage

Oxizoic dosage

Cream should be applied to affected and immediately surrounding areas once to twice daily in patients with tinea pedis, tinea corporis, or tinea cruris. OxizoicCream should be applied once daily in the treatment of tinea (pityriasis) versicolor.
