How Selenic acid works

Selenium is a constituent of selenoproteins thus has structural and enzymatic roles. It acts as an antioxidant via the actions of selenoproteins for protection against oxidative stress, and acts as a catayst for the production of active thyroid hormone []. It may also play a role in sperm motility .

Toxicity

Injectable selenium is more acutely toxic than oral administration, with an intramuscular LD50 of 0.5 mg/kg BW in lambs .
