What is Tegma used for?

Tegma is a pharmaceutical drug for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the class of anti-diabetic drugs known as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors or Gliptins.

With regard to general safety, Tegma has been well tolerated in short-term studies.

How does Tegma work?

Tegma works by causing the pancreas to release more insulin and decreasing the hormones that cause blood sugar levels to rise.

The Tegma may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Make sure you just take in the sum stated at a given time, not more or less. 

How should I take Tegma ?

Teneligliptin is given orally to adults in doses of 20 mg once daily, which can be increased to 40 mg per day.

How long does Tegma take to work ?

The maximum percentage of the inhibition in plasma DPP-4 activity was achieved within 2 hours after administration and was 81.3% and 89.7% in the 10 and 20 mg Tegma groups, respectively.

How much Tegma can I take daily?

Adults can take 20 mg of Tegma once a day in general. If the effect isn't strong enough, the dosage can be raised by up to 40 mg once a day.

How long does Tegma take to work?

Tegma has been systematically evaluated in T2DM as monotherapy with diet and exercise and in combination with metformin, glimepiride, pioglitazone, and insulin in short-term (12 weeks) and long-term (52 weeks) studies.

Is Tegma safe in liver disease?

Tegma was well tolerated by subjects with hepatic impairment.

Available clinical evidence suggests that Tegma exerts cardiovascular safety in T2DM patients. This Tegma can be used in T2DM patients with CKD including end stage renal disease patients without any major safety concern.

Can I drive after taking Tegma?

Tegma may cause low blood sugar which can impair your ability to drive or operate heavy machines. Always keep sugar or chocolate with you while driving. In case you experience any of the symptoms of low blood sugar such as dizziness, drowsiness, sweating, stop driving immediately and have sugar.

What happen If I missed dose of Tegma?

If you have missed any dose of Tegma then take it as soon as you remember. If it is already time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.

What happen if I overdose on Tegma?

Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, fainting, sweating, tremors, confusion etc. Seek immediate medical help in case of an overdose.

What happen If I stop taking Tegma?

Do not stop taking Tegma without talking to your doctor. If you stop taking Tegma suddenly your diabetes may get worse. If you want to stop taking your medicine, speak to your doctor. They may be able to suggest an alternative treatment for your diabetes.

Can Tegma affect my kidney?

The study reported that maximum plasma concentration following a single oral dose of 20 mg Tegma was unaffected by mild, moderate and severe renal impairment.
