Tendpp4

Tendpp4 is a pharmaceutical drug for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the class of anti-diabetic drugs known as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors or Gliptins.

With regard to general safety, Tendpp4 has been well tolerated in short-term studies.

Tendpp4 works by causing the pancreas to release more insulin and decreasing the hormones that cause blood sugar levels to rise.

Common side effects of Tendpp4 are include;

• Headache
• Hypoglycemia
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Nasopharyngitis
• Constipation
• Gastrointestinal symptoms
• Fatigue
• Kidney problems
• Skin rashes
• Itching
• Abdominal pain
• Loss of appetite

Tendpp4 should be used during pregnancy only if necessary. The risk to the developing foetus is not known. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant before taking this medication.

Tendpp4 may pass into breastmilk. Hence it is not recommended while breastfeeding. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking this medication.

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Tendpp4 as alcohol consumption may lead to low blood sugar levels.

The Tendpp4 may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Make sure you just take in the sum stated at a given time, not more or less. 

Teneligliptin is given orally to adults in doses of 20 mg once daily, which can be increased to 40 mg per day.

The maximum percentage of the inhibition in plasma DPP-4 activity was achieved within 2 hours after administration and was 81.3% and 89.7% in the 10 and 20 mg Tendpp4 groups, respectively.

Adults can take 20 mg of Tendpp4 once a day in general. If the effect isn't strong enough, the dosage can be raised by up to 40 mg once a day.

Tendpp4 has been systematically evaluated in T2DM as monotherapy with diet and exercise and in combination with metformin, glimepiride, pioglitazone, and insulin in short-term (12 weeks) and long-term (52 weeks) studies.

Tendpp4 was well tolerated by subjects with hepatic impairment.

If your blood sugar levels are uncontrolled and complications like ketosis, diabetic coma or pre-coma have developed.

Available clinical evidence suggests that Tendpp4 exerts cardiovascular safety in T2DM patients. This Tendpp4 can be used in T2DM patients with CKD including end stage renal disease patients without any major safety concern.

Tendpp4 may cause low blood sugar which can impair your ability to drive or operate heavy machines. Always keep sugar or chocolate with you while driving. In case you experience any of the symptoms of low blood sugar such as dizziness, drowsiness, sweating, stop driving immediately and have sugar.

If you have missed any dose of Tendpp4 then take it as soon as you remember. If it is already time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.

Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, fainting, sweating, tremors, confusion etc. Seek immediate medical help in case of an overdose.

Do not stop taking Tendpp4 without talking to your doctor. If you stop taking Tendpp4 suddenly your diabetes may get worse. If you want to stop taking your medicine, speak to your doctor. They may be able to suggest an alternative treatment for your diabetes.

The study reported that maximum plasma concentration following a single oral dose of 20 mg Tendpp4 was unaffected by mild, moderate and severe renal impairment.
