How Friulimycin B works
Friulimycin B, in the presence of calcium, forms a complex with a lipid carrier that acts in cell wall biosynthesis and which is not targeted by other antibiotics currently in use. Friulimycin B appears to block two essential pathways in the cell envelope and the complexes formed prevent the formation of a functional cell wall.
