Geolan Sr

Geolan Sr is a drug used as a vasodilator in humans and equines. Geolan Sr is a β₂ adrenoreceptor agonist that causes direct relaxation of uterine and vascular smooth muscle via β₂ receptors. Geolan Sr relaxes the uterine smooth muscles and is used for treatment of pre-term labor and dysmenorrhea. It is absorbed in the gastrointestinal system and is excreted in urine.

Researchers in this study reported that Geolan Sr was safe for treating acute pre-term labor and also as a maintenance therapy. Also, it was shown that prophylactic oral Geolan Sr does not lower the risk of pre-term labor in high-risk, single pregnancies.

This Geolan Sr works by relaxing the smooth muscle that surrounds small blood vessels causing vasodilation and potentially increasing blood flow to the hooves.

Common side effects of Geolan Sr are include:

• flushing (feeling of warmth)
• upset stomach.

Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of an isoxsuprine overdose include weakness, lightheadedness, fainting, nausea, and vomiting.

Geolan Sr caused slight maternal hypotension and a transient acidosis, both of which returned to baseline values within 60 minutes.

There are no reports of problems with Geolan Sr in breastfeeding babies.

The important adverse reactions of Geolan Sr are tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension, but they occur only at high dosages.
