Isodot Sr

Isodot Sr is a drug used as a vasodilator in humans and equines. Isodot Sr is a β₂ adrenoreceptor agonist that causes direct relaxation of uterine and vascular smooth muscle via β₂ receptors. Isodot Sr relaxes the uterine smooth muscles and is used for treatment of pre-term labor and dysmenorrhea. It is absorbed in the gastrointestinal system and is excreted in urine.

Researchers in this study reported that Isodot Sr was safe for treating acute pre-term labor and also as a maintenance therapy. Also, it was shown that prophylactic oral Isodot Sr does not lower the risk of pre-term labor in high-risk, single pregnancies.

This Isodot Sr works by relaxing the smooth muscle that surrounds small blood vessels causing vasodilation and potentially increasing blood flow to the hooves.

Common side effects of Isodot Sr are include:

• flushing (feeling of warmth)
• upset stomach.
• vomiting.
• stomach pain.

This means that it is not known whether Isodot Sr will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.

Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of an isoxsuprine overdose include weakness, lightheadedness, fainting, nausea, and vomiting.

Isodot Sr caused slight maternal hypotension and a transient acidosis, both of which returned to baseline values within 60 minutes.

There are no reports of problems with Isodot Sr in breastfeeding babies.

The important adverse reactions of Isodot Sr are tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension, but they occur only at high dosages.
