Nexprim Sr

Nexprim Sr is a drug used as a vasodilator in humans and equines. Nexprim Sr is a β₂ adrenoreceptor agonist that causes direct relaxation of uterine and vascular smooth muscle via β₂ receptors. Nexprim Sr relaxes the uterine smooth muscles and is used for treatment of pre-term labor and dysmenorrhea. It is absorbed in the gastrointestinal system and is excreted in urine.

Researchers in this study reported that Nexprim Sr was safe for treating acute pre-term labor and also as a maintenance therapy. Also, it was shown that prophylactic oral Nexprim Sr does not lower the risk of pre-term labor in high-risk, single pregnancies.

This Nexprim Sr works by relaxing the smooth muscle that surrounds small blood vessels causing vasodilation and potentially increasing blood flow to the hooves.

Common side effects of Nexprim Sr are include:

• upset stomach.

Nexprim Sr comes in the form of tablet to take orally. It is usually taken 3-4 times in a day. It can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. Read the prescription label carefully before starting the medication.

Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of an isoxsuprine overdose include weakness, lightheadedness, fainting, nausea, and vomiting.

Nexprim Sr caused slight maternal hypotension and a transient acidosis, both of which returned to baseline values within 60 minutes.

There are no reports of problems with Nexprim Sr in breastfeeding babies.

The important adverse reactions of Nexprim Sr are tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension, but they occur only at high dosages.
