Ordilan Retard

Ordilan Retard is a drug used as a vasodilator in humans and equines. Ordilan Retard is a β₂ adrenoreceptor agonist that causes direct relaxation of uterine and vascular smooth muscle via β₂ receptors. Ordilan Retard relaxes the uterine smooth muscles and is used for treatment of pre-term labor and dysmenorrhea. It is absorbed in the gastrointestinal system and is excreted in urine.

Researchers in this study reported that Ordilan Retard was safe for treating acute pre-term labor and also as a maintenance therapy. Also, it was shown that prophylactic oral Ordilan Retard does not lower the risk of pre-term labor in high-risk, single pregnancies.

This Ordilan Retard works by relaxing the smooth muscle that surrounds small blood vessels causing vasodilation and potentially increasing blood flow to the hooves.

Ordilan Retard comes in the form of tablet to take orally. It is usually taken 3-4 times in a day. It can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. Read the prescription label carefully before starting the medication.

Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of an isoxsuprine overdose include weakness, lightheadedness, fainting, nausea, and vomiting.

Ordilan Retard caused slight maternal hypotension and a transient acidosis, both of which returned to baseline values within 60 minutes.

There are no reports of problems with Ordilan Retard in breastfeeding babies.

The important adverse reactions of Ordilan Retard are tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension, but they occur only at high dosages.
