Vasodilan Xr

Vasodilan Xr is a drug used as a vasodilator in humans and equines. Vasodilan Xr is a β₂ adrenoreceptor agonist that causes direct relaxation of uterine and vascular smooth muscle via β₂ receptors. Vasodilan Xr relaxes the uterine smooth muscles and is used for treatment of pre-term labor and dysmenorrhea. It is absorbed in the gastrointestinal system and is excreted in urine.

Researchers in this study reported that Vasodilan Xr was safe for treating acute pre-term labor and also as a maintenance therapy. Also, it was shown that prophylactic oral Vasodilan Xr does not lower the risk of pre-term labor in high-risk, single pregnancies.

This Vasodilan Xr works by relaxing the smooth muscle that surrounds small blood vessels causing vasodilation and potentially increasing blood flow to the hooves.

Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of an isoxsuprine overdose include weakness, lightheadedness, fainting, nausea, and vomiting.

Vasodilan Xr caused slight maternal hypotension and a transient acidosis, both of which returned to baseline values within 60 minutes.

There are no reports of problems with Vasodilan Xr in breastfeeding babies.

The important adverse reactions of Vasodilan Xr are tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension, but they occur only at high dosages.
