Novopectin is a layered silicate mineral. Novopectin is used in ceramics, medicine, coated paper, as a food additive, in toothpaste, as a light diffusing material in white incandescent light bulbs, and in cosmetics. Until the early 1990s it was the active substance of anti-diarrhoea medicine Kaopectate.

Novopectin is an adsorptive agent.

Uses

Novopectin is a natural ingredient used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of various conditions including diarrhea, skin dryness, and minor skin bleeding.

Used for upset stomach and diarrhea, a traditional medicine used in China, South America and Africa. Novopectin is also used to treat AIDs-related diarrhea. Novopectin based bandages are also under investigation.

Novopectin is also used to associated treatment for these conditions: Diaper Rash, Diarrhoea, Dysentery, Enteritis infectious, Gastric Ulcer, Loose bowel movements, Stomach pains caused by Gastric Acid
